Gater Mountain
An American based 'N' gauge layout measuring 6feet by 3feet, originally built by club member Viv Baker, for his grandson James, the size of the layout enabling James to store it under his bed.
The original layout comprising a looped figure of eight with mountain spiral and small engine terminal. It was displayed in this format at several exhibitions.
After constant 'nagging' by Ken Stephens, this has been extended to 12feet6inches by 4feet, and now incorporates a small town with several industrial plants represented by Grain Mills and Silos, Cement Plant, and Plastics Manufacturing and Trucking firms.
Structures and buildings are both kit built and kit bashed from a variety of kits and scratch building materials.
Motive power and rolling stock is mainly from the Atlas and Kato ranges and is owned by Viv and Ken.
Scenery is made with polystyrene covered in decorator's caulk, then painted and covered with woodland scenics products.
